Advanced Integrated Myofascial Therapy

Myofascial Release is a whole body approach to health that encompasses a variety of assessments and effective hands on and hands off modalities.  It is a relaxing and therapeutic technique for mobilising the fascia (connective tissue) which can become restricted through accidents, illness, life stress issues, inactivity and sports injury. Myofascial release can be highly effective on:-generalised pain that cannot be pinpointed-postural dysfunction or scars.  It can also be effective in assisting recovery from all types of injury and conditions such as:-fibromyalgia, TMJ problems, back and pelvic pain, headaches and neck tension, sports injuries.​

Within Integrated Myofascial Release a range of therapies are combined in a unique way for each client to give the best results. These include:

Oncology Massage

This massage provides a much lighter touch than other types of massage and takes into consideration each client's individual needs.  The benefits of having oncology massage during or after treatment can include:

  • Improved sleep

  • A decrease in anxiety and depression

  • deep relaxation

  • reduced pain and swelling

TMJ Therapy - Temporomandibular Joint Therapy is a full body approach of working with those experiencing discomfort due to a TMJ disorder (this can be diagnosed by your dentist). The symptoms can  include:

  • Pain around your jaw, neck, ear and temple (which may be worse when chewing or stressed)

  • Clicking, popping or grinding noises when you move your jaw

  • Headaches around your temples

  • Difficulty opening your mouth fully

  • History of your jaw locking when opening your mouth

  • Sleep problems

The therapy combines massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, direct fascial bodywork, cranial work, stretching and rehabilitation exercises.  

It is recommended that in order to bring effective relief 3 to 6 treatments are required.

Self Myofascial Release

In recent years SMFR Therapy, in the form of using foam rolls or balls, has become popular in a range of settings.The fascial system has seen a growth in research and it is known that fascial dysfunction can be a result of physical or emotional trauma, the inflammatory or infectious process, poor posture and scar tissue or adhesions from historic or recent injury. Using tools, this is a gently approach to SMFR Therapy and is suitable for most clients. The benefits of SMFR Therapy include: Increased range of movement in joints, alleviate pain, help with reducing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and increase self awareness (interoception) which has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and reduces symptoms of depression.

Sports and Remedial Massage

Sports and remedial therapy assists in the recovery of injuries and provides maintenance for muscles to maximise performance. It is appropriate for anyone who has an active lifestyle whether that is competing in sporting events or doing regular gardening.

​As well as some massage and integrating Myofascial release; sports and remedial therapy also incorporates many techniques which can help alleviate tight muscles, joint restrictions and painful muscle spasms. â€‹
